Funded Sustainability Research with Lancaster University

We have 5 funded student projects available for businesses and social enterprises working towards decarbonisation and sustainability. The projects would be suitable for businesses/enterprises who would like a new perspective or insight into a challenge they face, and where new insights would help them make more informed decisions or proposed changes within their business.

Successful applicants will each receive 75 hours of student research time, which will be funded by the W&F Green Enterprise Hub. If projects require travel or expenses these must be agreed with the student in advance and must be paid for by the business / enterprise.

Projects will be delivered over the summer (June to September 2024), can be flexible on timings within that period, and will culminate in a report/presentation/recommendations.

Example projects might include, but not be limited to:

• Investigating markets or supply chains for the introduction of a more sustainable product/service range.
• Exploring innovative business models to increase sustainability of your products and/or services.
• Exploring innovative ways to engage with and educate customers around sustainability.
• Exploring innovative ways your business might work with local suppliers and local organizations / enterprises to strengthen sustainability within the region.
• Exploring the potential for circular business models within your business.

Criteria by which applications will be judged:

• The project falls within the remit and scope of the W&F Green Enterprise Hub.
• The project can be completed within 75 hours of research time.
• We can recruit students with the right knowledge, experience, and skills.
• The business / enterprise is eligible for SPF funding.
