Last updated: Friday 3 April 2020

We have had to take the decision to pause many of our projects for the next few months, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Much of our work involves community engagement, which can’t continue at the moment. We are still here, however, and working behind the scenes, albeit with temporarily reduced staffing.

CAfS events

In keeping with the latest government advice, our events in April and May have been cancelled:

  • the LILAC community housing event
  • the Carbon and climate literacy training
  • the final two parts of our Retrofitting for energy efficiency level 4 course
  • training course on growing your own food
  • Dalefoot Composts farm tour
  • foraging workshop

We have suspended bookings for our events in June and will review closer to the time.

We have been in touch with those who’d booked with further detail about what this means for fees paid and CPD certificates. Attendees have been notified by email. If you haven’t heard from us, please email office@cafs.org.uk.

Cold to Cosy Homes Cumbria

We are temporarily suspending visits to people’s homes through our Cold to Cosy Homes service in order to help ensure people who are affected by health issues are not put at risk of infection. We will resume visits as soon as it is appropriate to do so. In the meantime, we are still offering our telephone advice service and we are taking bookings for future home visits.

The free-of-charge emergency service to vulnerable households whose gas boiler has broken down is still continuing while funds last. Read more >

Recruitment

We have suspended recruitment for the time being.

Staffing & contact

We are now operating with reduced staffing, in light of the need to pause several of our projects temporarily. Our office in Penrith is closed. At this challenging time, we will only be able to respond to urgent or business-critical enquiries. Please email office@cafs.org.uk, with ‘Urgent’ in the subject line.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to re-run any cancelled events again when the Coronavirus restrictions are lifted, or if we find an alternative way to deliver them that doesn’t compromise quality.
We thank all our customers for their patience and understanding during these uncertain times.
