In just a couple of hours in the evening, you can update your knowledge and give your customers the best possible result - a warm, dry home they'll love living in!
Whether you're a builder, an architect or have another job in construction, these sessions are designed especially for you.
This first session is a really good overview of the things you'd want to think about when you're planning a renovation.
You'll hear about what makes a retrofit successful, and we'll also look at the issues that come about when retrofitting bit-by-bit rather than in one big project. We recommend you book onto this session if you plan to come to any of the others in the series, because it'll cover the essentials for any renovation.
Here's what we'll be talking about:
- Looking at what motivates clients to start retrofit projects - what they're hoping to get out of it
- The kinds of houses that are ideal for retrofitting
- Assessing the energy needs of the house and creating a plan
- The challenges of retrofitting buildings bit-by-bit
- The effect it has when you make different improvements to the structure (fabric) of the house, and how it can affect heating systems among other things
- Understanding the importance of ventilation
This course will be delivered by Nick Parsons on behalf of Carbon Coop and hosted by Tina Holt from CAfS.
You can also book onto all the other sessions or pick and choose which ones you are interested in:
Eco-Retrofit for Construction Professionals Unit 2: Taking Airtightness Seriously
Eco-Retrofit for Construction Professionals Unit 3: Insulation - Walls and Roofs
Eco-Retrofit for Construction Professionals Unit 4: Insulation - Floors, Windows and Doors
