CAfS is running two free workshops for anyone interested in delivering affordable, low carbon housing in their community.
The workshop will give an introduction to the key issues to consider to ensure that community-led housing is designed to be energy efficient, affordable, and with a low carbon footprint.
It will provide you with the knowledge to start building low carbon design principles into your own community-led housing project.
The workshops are delivered by experts in low carbon community-led housing and carbon-neutral design:
Chris Coates - one of the founders and directors of Lancaster co-housing, an award-winning, carbon neutral community-led housing development.
Rod Hughes or Tracey Hart - Cumbria-based 2030 Architects, specialising in sustainable design of both refurbishment and retrofit of traditional buildings, and new-build architecture.
Cost: These workshops are offered free, as part of work delivering the Community Led Housing Hub Cumbria & Lancaster, which provides support and access to technical expertise for groups making new affordable homes for their communities.
The Hub is hosted by ACT and has been set up by a consortium of local councils:
• Allerdale Borough Council
• Carlisle City Council
• Copeland Borough Council
• Eden District Council
• Lancaster City Council
• South Lakeland District Council
