Course Overview

Do you want to get your facts straight about the latest climate science and what we can all do in our businesses, our communities and at home to restore the balance?

This inspiring, informative and interactive short session, offered to micro, small and medium sized organisations (SMEs) based in or operating across the Westmorland & Furness area, will take you concisely through an overview of the science of climate change, causes, impacts (globally and locally) and what we can do about it. It also covers what is happening locally, and how to get involved.  We are delighted to be offering delegates over 70% off our usual organisation ticket rates, as part of a wider package of support from the Westmorland & Furness Green Enterprise Hub

The session presents you with a clear framework for understanding the climate emergency, how soon we need to act, the scale of that action, and what practical part SMEs in Cumbria can play in the bigger picture. We'll share case studies of SMEs in Cumbria and beyond who are leading the way.

You will leave this session more confident in your knowledge, better able to articulate what needs to be done, and with an increased sense of your ability to be part of that change, on an individual, communal and organisational level. As a a business, you'll be better placed to engage with an increasingly eco-conscious audience and workforce, attracting people with your climate conscious actions that will leave a positive legacy.

The course is delivered by expert trainers from Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS). We Co-Chair the Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership and run Cumbria’s Climate and Carbon Literacy training programme. A certified Platinum Carbon Literate Organisation, our team of certified Carbon Literate trainers bring decades of practical emission-reduction expertise, in-depth knowledge of the local area as well as significant training experience.

This is a time-efficient option for essential, interactive briefing on climate science and solutions for Cumbria but we recommend that anyone wishing to gain more in-depth knowledge and discuss solutions more fully should instead book onto our fully comprehensive, accredited Climate and Carbon Literacy Course.
