Our award-winning Climate and Carbon Literacy team has expanded this month by three new trainers. We welcome Joe, Gina and Matt to our expert and experienced team! Growing our team is a testament to the appetite for understanding carbon and climate science, here in Cumbria and beyond in some cases! Introducing Climate Fresk

Over 1.6 million people worldwide have attended a Climate Fresk - a new way of learning about climate science and the causes and consequences of climate change. And now, the CAfS team have also experienced this interactive and dynamic way of understanding climate change which has been rolled out in over 160 countries. Climate Fresk is a three hour activity where participants link the causes and effects of climate change by organising and arranging cards. Age UK North Tyneside – Breaking down barriers and spreading the word with Carbon Literacy

Sonya Roe, and Age UK North Tyneside are on a journey of positive, practical climate action. And the motivation all started with an urge to make a difference, both personally and at the organisation, with climate action. Carbon Literacy Action Day

Monday 4 December sees the world's largest climate education-and-action training event - Carbon Literacy Action Day - and we are very proud to be playing our part! Carbon Literacy Action Day (CLAD) is led by the Carbon Literacy Project and coincides with the UN Climate Change Conference; COP 28. An award winning evening with the Carbon Literacy Project

This Thursday saw CAfS in Manchester for The Carbon Literate Organisation awards. As a Carbon Literacy platinum award winner we were there to receive our award from The Carbon Literacy Project and to celebrate our experiences with other award winners, learning from their success and challenges! These inspirational awards featured stories from around the world. From Australia to the UAE, Carbon Literacy accredited courses are being adapted for different cultures and different audiences globally.  Currently there are 62, 184 carbon literate citizens across over 23 nations and with over 4100 different organisations involved. 1000 people trained in carbon literacy milestone!

Over 1000 people have developed their understanding of the climate crisis thanks to our hugely successful carbon literacy training! Our carbon literacy courses began in September 2019 and we have held over 85 climate training courses since then: reaching individuals and organisations across the County. And thanks to a link with the Carbon Literacy Project around half of those have been accredited.
