We are a landscape design and environmental impact assessment (EIA) consultancy. We can help with all forms of development from gardens to major roads and quarries, but recently most of our work has been connected with the design and environmental assessment of small hydro (run-of-river and Archimedes screw) and wind energy. We work with developers, landowners, installers and planning authorities. We work across the whole of the UK.

We are based in Carlisle.

We install charging points for electric vehicles, along with domestic electrical work. We also replace and repair solar inverters in North Cumbria. So if you have an issue with an inverter and your installer has gone bust (as many unfortunately have) give us a ring. We'll help if we can.

We’ve been installing car charging points in Cumbria since 2014 and we’ve installed over 400 so we have lots of experience – and we’re local with a great reputation for customer care. We are registered with NICEIC.

We are a hydro developer and service provider. Delivery: We offer everything you need to get a hydro project off the ground, including feasibility, design & consenting, construction, project management. Development: We construct and operate our own schemes and community-owned schemes, primarily in the Lake District and Wales. Heat pumps: Heat pumps are a great compliment to a hydro scheme or for use in their own right using electricity from the grid network. We design and install heat pump installations with a particular focus on commercial-scale water-source heat pump projects.

Ellergreen began to explore UK hydro potential in 2006. Development of a number of schemes began in 2007 and in 2008 we decided to form a new business – Ellergreen Hydro Ltd – with additional partners and shareholders. Though we’re a relatively new company, our roots are ancient. Our forefathers installed one of the world’s first turbines in 1855. And we like to think that it inspired our partners Gilkes (only two miles down the road) to build their first turbine only a year later, in 1856. It was an auspicious moment – they’ve been hydro industry world leaders ever since.

We supply an innovative system for supporting insulation between suspended timber floors and within cellar ceilings. The Insumate recycled polypropylene support tray is simply stapled between joists. The system streamlines the installation of insulation, increasing the efficiency of your first fix. It also increases the performance of your insulation material by regulating the airflow and combating condensation build-up. It covers 70% of the underside of the insulation material.

The Insumate system was invented and patented by Penrith resident Raymond Robinson. Insumate is an innovative, development-driven company, leading the way in insulation installation technologies. Central to our philosophy is the belief that products should be client driven. We understand building processes and the needs of the industry. We supply and install biomass boilers. We specialise in Solarbayer VIGAS boilers (RHI accredited) and have many installations throughout Cumbria, Lancashire, the Borders & southern Scotland. We also offer third-party independent inspections of commercial RHI installations, as required for registration with OFGEM.

Skogs Logs Ltd supplies seasoned hardwood and softwood firewood, perfect for open fires, log burners, boilers and chimineas. They also supply log stores, sawn beams, sawn lintels, bird boxes, bat boxes and owl boxes.

Skogs Logs was set up in 2008 to supply firewood around the local area. The business promotes the use of soft wood which, they say, is ideal for controlled environments, like log burners, and is a cheaper alternative. They are also keen to keep it local, cutting down on transport costs and making the business more environmentally friendly. At present they deliver to customers within a 25-mile radius.

PRIVATE WATER SUPPLY Whether you want go off-grid for your water, or have to due to your location, GSS can help both commercial and domestic clients to explore options and understand the implications of an independent water supply. We can project manage the implementation of your plans through to water coming from your taps. We also have specialist expertise in developing combined systems to provide water supply and geothermal heat supply from a single source borehole. WATER TREATMENT Water treatment is all about the removal of unwanted minerals and contaminants from your water supply and GGS understands how hugely important that can be for homes and in a commercial manufacturing and processing context. We are experienced installers of efficient and dependable water treatment equipment and we always ensure that our client's water supplies reach the necessary quality standards as defined by the Private Water Supplies Regulations. GEOTHERMAL SYSTEMS GGS is experienced in low-enthalpy geothermal (groundwater-sourced) heat pump system design and implementation. We have the technical capabilities to assess the feasibility for heat extraction at your specific site and we’re committed to developing the most cost effective and efficient geothermal system for your situation. In conjunction with one of our heat pump partners, a system can be designed and installed and you can have confidence in our quality control continuity from start to finish.

Groundwater & Geothermal Services (GGS) Ltd is a family-run business established in Cumbria in 2007 by Jonathan Steven and his wife, Susie. Jonathan is a qualified hydrogeologist who has worked for 35 years in the UK water supply borehole and geothermal heat pump industry, so he has not only seen the changes in this sector but has been part of the technical drive and innovation that have made them happen.
