A comprehensive home energy audit to futureproof your home

Why do I need a home energy audit?

A home energy audit will help you increase your home’s energy efficiency, resulting in significant energy savings  and financial savings. It can help you protect your home from damp and other weather-related issues, while making it much more comfortable. If you live in Cumbria or the Lake District, or even have a second home here in which you spend a lot of time, you’ll know all too well the problems these conditions can cause.

By profiling the energy performance  of your home, modelling its heat loss and its carbon footprint, our experts can identify costed improvements you could achieve now through a range of retrofit options and reduce the need for work to be carried out in years to come.

Our home energy audit service is different to many home energy assessments , such as Energy Performance Certificates (EPC). That’s because it takes a wide range of factors into account, in addition to energy and carbon emissions – including your individual priorities and preferences and factors like comfort, health and indoor air quality.

  • How does a home energy audit work?

1: Pre-visit: Discussing your objectives, reviewing past energy bills, an EPC, and other relevant documents such as planning and building approvals

2: Consultation appointment: A member of our team will call or visit your home to carry out an energy consultation  – factoring in motivations, priorities, preferences, timescales and budget

3: Building assessment: Our assessor performs a visual inspection of your property’s condition and conducts a survey, measuring the building’s parameters and record details of existing insulation, heating, cooling, ventilation fans and more

4: Energy modelling: An energy model of your home is created to reflect its current performance – which is used to develop three potential retrofit scenarios based on low, medium and high intervention measures

5: Report and recommendations: A comprehensive home energy audit and retrofit report will outline the findings of the assessment. This includes three costed retrofit scenarios – ranging from quick wins, to deep measures, along with timescales and estimated performance outcomes. A follow-up consultation to answer questions and discuss in detail the recommendations and next steps
