This hands-on pallet workshop will give you a practical introduction to using salvaged pallets. You’ll gain some of the knowledge and skills to use this fantastic source of free wood – along with lots of inspiration!
Salvaged pallets are a great resource for upcycling, given that they're very widely available, often simply discarded or burnt as waste, yet have numerous uses and loads of rustic character. Many projects are possible even with only simple tools and basic carpentry skills.
The workshop will cover:
- Likely places to source pallets
- How to split them
- Cutting and shaping
- Methods for joints
- Ideas for adding brackets and hinges
- Possible finishes such as waxes and oils
We'll also discuss useful equipment such as hand tools and power tools for use at home, although during the workshop we'll be using hand tools only.
With a good introduction under your belt, you’ll then make your own pallet storage box to take home.
There will be a variety of completed pallet projects for you to take a look at, from a bath caddy to a pallet chair, to give you some inspiration and fire up your creativity for projects you could make in future.
