See how an older house can be upgraded for ultra-low energy use, featuring clever technologies

This open home visit in a true insight into upgrading older, traditionally-built homes. This Victorian end-terrace house has had a major retrofit to the rigorous Passivhaus standard for ultra-low-energy buildings. 

The house super-low net energy use, and the owners will explain how they've achieved it, all while maintaining the original front appearance.

Here are some of the technologies you'll see:

  • Mechanical ventilation and heat recovery system (MVHR) with inline heating
  • Infrared heating by Far
  • Solar PV
  • Hot water heat battery by Sunamp PV
  • Triple glazing

 

There are two time options for this open home visit. This booking is for the 2pm slot.

Things to know before you book

Accessibility: There are steps to the front door, as well as to the first floor and basement (some of which have limited handrail).

During the visit: You'll need to remove your shoes for the visit inside the house.
