Industrial building renovation and conversion to low-energy house

This site tour is a project in progress to renovate and convert a 1890s Victorian former industrial building, previously used as a battery house for a Victorian Hydro plant which powered the industrial estate that was on the site of the current Lancaster Cohousing.

This renovation features new built extensions, one with a Green Roof, solid stone wall with additional external second stone wall skin, lime plaster internal wall insulation, combined with selected mineral wall slate roof and 'Blower proof' paint on air tightness layer and vapour barrier on ceiling. The rpoperty has a vaulted ceiling with overlay insulation above rafters, and the owners are raising  the floor level to incorporate insulation and underfloor heating. Doors and windows have been supplied byt the Green Building Store, and the property also benefits from MVHR and an Air Source Heat Pump.

Please note, this site has limited parking, so please cycle or lift share if possible. Follow the signage, and be prepared for a short walk. This is a building site and as such is not wheelchair accessible. There is some uneven ground and steps to the front door with hand rail. Please wear sturdy footwear.

This event is not suitable for under 18s.

The full address and details will be revealed once you book your place.
