It’s hard to think of an aspect of our lives that doesn’t use energy, resulting in carbon emissions. Heating our homes, the food and drinks we consume, the products we buy, the travel we do… it all produces emissions that make up our personal carbon footprint.
Join internationally renowned carbon expert Mike Berners-Lee for an insight into what causes the biggest chunks of your footprint, and the changes you could make to bring down the emissions generated through your day-to-day life.
Mike will be sharing all the latest information, fresh from his new book, There is No Planet B – A Handbook for the Make or Break Years.
It’s a particularly timely talk, with councils across Cumbria declaring climate emergencies, pledging to cut emissions in their districts. Mike’s practical suggestions will help every resident to play their part in the journey to a zero carbon county.
Mike is the founder of Small World Consulting, working with a wide range of organisations to help them understand and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. You may have seen him in the recent David Attenborough documentary on the BBC, Climate Change – The Facts.
He’s perhaps best known as the author of How Bad Are Bananas? The Carbon Footprint of Everything, as well as the co-author of The Burning Question. Mike’s books will be available to buy at the talk (cash sales only).
This talk is organised and offered free of charge by Penrith Action for Community Transition (PACT). Donations will be very welcome to help cover costs. The event is in central Penrith - full details are on the booking website.
