Show large map

This full-day, hands-on training course is especially for tradespeople, contractors and other professionals who work with old, damp, wet buildings, including those at risk from extreme weather, rainfall and flood.

Not a professional? There’s another date for this course for the general public. Find out more.

Your trainer is lime expert Tim Wells from Eden Hot Lime Mortar, hosted at his custom-made training facility near Kirkby Stephen.

The course begins with a taught session to give you a good overview of:

  • types of lime
  • problems with houses that lime can resolve
  • protection of lime
  • breathable floor systems
  • insulation

Then it’s time to put your new knowledge into action during practical sessions. Tim will explain and demonstrate a range of lime uses and techniques. You’ll try them for yourself, with his guidance to help you build your skills in:

  • pointing
  • plastering
  • lath work
  • parging
  • skim work
