Eco-Retrofit for Construction Professionals Unit 4: Insulation - Floors, Windows and Doors

If you renovate houses, find out about the latest building materials and ways to go about retrofitting, with our FREE online talks. In just a couple of hours in the evening, you can update your knowledge and give your customers the best possible result - a warm, dry home they'll love living in!

Whether you're a builder, an architect or have another job in construction, these sessions are designed especially for you.

In this fourth session, you'll learn about a range of insulation methods and materials you can use on solid and suspended timber floors. We'll also discuss options for windows and doors and what requirements you have to meet.

The course is full of examples from real life projects, giving you the chance to see how these methods work in practice.

We'll talk about:

  • The advantages and disadvantages of different floor insulation methods and materials
  • The statutory requirements for windows and doors
  • How to minimise heat loss when installing windows and doors
  • What 'thermal bridging' and 'thermal bypass' are, and how to deal with them

This course is delivered by Nick Parsons on behalf of Carbon Coop and hosted by Tina Holt from CAfS.

You can book onto all other sessions in this series, or pick and choose which ones you are interested in:
