It has become increasingly clear i n recent years that to avoid the most catastrophic effects of climate change\, we need to transform the way we live and operate. Building on the innov ation that has already taken place so rapidly in r esponse to the pandemic\, we need to embrace chang e to achieve the huge reduction in greenhouse gas emissions that is needed.
\n \nThis free event is aimed as businesses who are committed to playing their part\, but are seeking inspiration\, guidance and support to kno w how to achieve this step change.
\n \nBusinesses are a key part of the effort to build back better as we move forwar d in our efforts to tackle the climate emergency. The ways in which we trade with and support each o ther will be a key area in decarbonising and creat ing a more sustainable future in which business pr actise can continue.
\n \nThis event is a webinar with business inside rs on what measures are available for traders in C umbria to employ and the best way to go about it. It is perfect for anyone in business who wants to play their part in the fight against climate chang e but doesn't know how to make it effective and co mmercially viable.
\n \nWe will be joined by:
\n \nTim Maiden fr om Green Small Business\, who will be offering adv ice on how businesses can approach their carbon re duction efforts in a structured and systematic way to maximise impact. He will also outline the supp ort available to businesses in South Lakeland in t his regard.
\nMolly Hogg from CAfS\, who will provide some inspiration th rough examples of a variety of businesses who have adopted sustainable and innovative business model s and who have embraced the principles of a circul ar economy.
\nMike Siddall from the Eco Innovati on Team at the University of Cumbria\, who will ex plain the research support that they can provide t o businesses who want to innovate\, and will provi de examples of businesses who have already benefit ed from it\; and
\nSarah Smith from the Lake Distric t Foundation\, who will outline the funding availa ble to businesses within the LDNPA to invest in ca rbon reduction initiatives.

He will outline actions taken by the busines s over the past 15 years and\, crucially\, will ex plain the thinking\, planning and risk taking requ ired and how they overcame hurdles and challenges along the way.
