Webinar: Influencing decarbonisation policy and practice
A recent project between us here at Futureproof Cumbria and the University of Cumbria for Zero Carbon Cumbria has explored four of the most significant barriers to accelerating decarbonisation and identified practical steps that could help unblock them and enable scalable, long-term solutions. Using Jun Han and Sonal Shah’s (2020) Ecosystem of Scaling Social Impact framework, four briefing papers have been developed which each focus on a different dimension of the challenge: influencing policy and practice, improving data and evaluation, strengthening civil society action, and securing the funding and resources required for sustained progress.
In the first webinar to accompany these briefing papers, we'll explore the core challenge of accelerating decarbonisation to meet Cumbria's ambitious 2037 net zero target by analysing how to effectively influence policy and practice across local, regional, and national governance levels. You can read the relevant paper here.
The webinar will take a look at how some of those recommendations can be realised in Cumbria, hearing from partners and invited guests who can give an insight of their learnings from experience in advocating for policy change through collaborative frameworks, using strategic levers and aligned purpose to drive change.
Speakers include: Local Partnerships, an in-house public sector delivery partner jointly owned by the LGA, HM Treasury and Welsh Government.
