In this free webinar, discover why it really does matter what you throw away, which bins you use and the condition of your rubbish. Learn how recycling your waste correctly saves money, saves precious resources and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. We will look at the things we can all do to help us recycle at home, how you can help the recycling process and what the knock-on effects can be of not doing this. We will share top tips on how you can recycle in a way that means more of your waste can be processed and you won’t shut the recycling plant down!

Barbara Herridge, Waste Service Manager in Cumbria will share some figures and information about why it is important to recycle. There will be an outline of what happens to the materials in your recycling collections, sharing images of the Hespin Wood Recycling Plant in Carlisle where it may be processed. 

Hayley Slack, Communications Education Liaison Officer from Biffa, our local waste management services provider, will outline what they do with your general (or residual) waste. This is an opportunity for you to find out how your general household waste is handled and processed and hear ways you can reduce it, thus increasing the efficiency of the service provided and reducing carbon emissions.  

After the webinar, we can organise a visit to Hespin Wood Recycling Plant for those who are interested.
