Cumbria Sustainability Network | Power and Action

49 places left
Find out more about the recommendations from the Cumbria Climate Assembly and gain practical tools for getting your voice heard.

Cumbria Sustainability Network is joining with the Cumbria Wildlife Trust to host this event designed to inspire and support participants to understand how they can take action to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises by influencing public policy at a local and national level.

The event will profile the recommendations of the first Cumbria Climate Assembly which has brought together a diverse group of 40 randomly selected people from across the county to answer the question: ‘Many people in Cumbria feel unheard and unable to influence those who make decisions on climate change action. What can be done about this?

We will hear about the assembly process from Shared Future, and will discuss how to support the assembly findings and push for action. Speakers from national charity Hope for the Future will outline the tactics and techniques which can influence different sorts of decision-makers.

We will also hear from other local campaigns such as Cumbria Divest, the West Cumbria Coalmine campaign, Carlisle Residents Against Incinerators, and current Wildlife Trust campaigns, so this is not only an opportunity to find out how to get more involved in existing campaigns but also to build a network and skills to launch your own campaign for climate and nature.
