Cumbria Sustainability Network | Exploring the Fruits

Come along to find out more about horticultural and carbon saving projects at this knowledge and seed swap, which will include input from Fruity Windermere and the South Lakes Orchard Group, as well as profiling projects supported through through the Community Climate grants programme, including:

  • Mycelium Thinking
  • Cumbria Clothing Collective
  • Full of Noises (Barrow Park) : Sounding the Elements Project
  • Riversmeet
  • The Eddington CIC

This FREE event includes an opening talk from Tim Farron MP, a vegan / vegetarian lunch, inspirational workshops and an opportunity to explore beautiful St Catherine's woodland surrounding the National Trust's Footprint venue near Windermere.

The Footprint is the first building in Cumbria to be constructed with straw bale walls, and the first of this kind built anywhere by the National Trust.  The development is low environmental impact with straw walls; used car tyre foundations; local timber frames and floors; oak shake roof and sheep’s wool insulation.

As a Cumbria Sustainability Network 'in person' event, you'll have the opportunity to meet like-minded people who want to 'do their bit' to tackle climate change. Please join us to celebrate the achievements of community groups operating under the umbrella of the Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership, and gain ideas and confidence to develop new initiatives in your part of Cumbria.

Please note, parking at The Footprint is extremely limited and we encourage walking, cycling, car sharing.
