Become a Climate Champion in Copeland

We're looking for new Climate Champions in the Copeland area to join our existing team of 35 volunteers.

The successful recruits will be interested in building a strong community for a green future, and after attending our accredited Carbon Literacy training, will put their new knowledge and skills to use.

Solar Made Easy in Greysouthen & Penrith

Our Keswick event at the end of March was incredibly well supported and we're looking forward to our next event for Greysouthen and the surrounding villages on Wednesday 19 April. We're then launching the project in Penrith on Monday 26 May. The intro events offer expert advice, from our team and prospective installers.

Grants Update 
The Rebuild Site CIC with celebratory cake
Cumbrian community projects receive £47k funding to cut carbon

After a participatory budgeting event on 23 March, seven projects have been awarded a grand total of £47,725 from our Community Climate Grants scheme.

Among the successful projects was The Rebuild Site CIC in Carlisle, which received a £10k for its innovative tool library and workshop project. The social enterprise diverts excess building materials from landfill and offers them to the public at a reduced cost, whilst also supporting community projects with free building materials.

Great Big Green Week, 10-18 June
£300 Great Big Green Week Grants for climate events up for grabs

Staying on the grants theme, here's your chance to apply for up to £300 for a climate event in your area during Great Big Green Week, 10-18 June. 

Last year's list included wildlife walks, films, talks, litter picks, forest school events, vegetable growing, as well as larger events to support sustainable businesses and sustainability festivals. What will you organise during Great Big Green Week 2023? Don't delay, apply before the deadline of Friday 19 May.

Our partners at VONNE have a second chance for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSE) in Cumbria to join their Going Green Together training cohort in environmental sustainability.

Community Heat Network Survey

eQuality Heat are working on community heat network development studies in Cumbria and have launched a survey aimed at people living in the Westmorland Dales and Eden Valley areas. They'll use the responses to start generating an interest map to see where there are clusters of households that they could potentially work with. Please share with your contacts who are in these areas!
