A 3 in 1 visit, with talks, case studies and a site visit

A 3 in 1 visit, firstly How to Insulate Solid Walls by Ecological Building Systems followed by a case studies of deep greet retrofit talk by Andrew Yeates of EcoArc Architects. We will then visit a property in Slaggyford that has installed diathonite cork lime plaster for insulation.

1.30 – 2.15 p.m – How to Insulate Solid Walls by Ecological Building Systems

- The impact of moisture on solid walls
- Primary drivers of moisture ingress
- How the wall functions before and after applying insulation
- The necessity of moisture management
- The importance of using diffusion open materials to ensure structural safety and longevity
- What to avoid and best practice depending on the property and condition of the existing wall

2.15 – 3.00 p.m. Andrew Yeats of EcoArc Architects - ’Case studies of deep green eco retrofit to passive house standards including both Gutex & Diathonite internal wall insulation and what strategies EcoArc have employed to upgrade existing properties form an EPC of G at the start to and EPC of A+ on completion.’’   

3.15-3.30 Leave the hall to visit a local house in Slaggyford that has installed Diathonite Evolution Cork Lime Thermal Plaster internally to stone walls – guests will be able to see the recently renovated barn.  Please note there is No car parking at the barn, visitors will need to park on the lane out of Slaggyford and walk up the track driveway.  Shoes will also need to be removed in the house.
