\n \nDo you want to get your fa cts straight about the latest climate science\, ca rbon footprints and what we can all do\, at home\, in our communities and at work\, to help restore the balance?
\n \nClimate and Carbon Literacy training provides a c lear understanding of climate science\, an awarene ss of carbon costs and the impacts of everyday act ivities. It also builds an ability and motivation to reduce emissions on an individual\, community a nd organisational basis.
\n \nThis inspiring\, informative and interac tive accredited training course\, split over two h alf day sessions\, will take you concisely through the science of climate change\, causes\, impacts and solutions. It will provide you with clear and practical advice on how we can all achieve change. It also covers the global\, UK and Cumbria pictur e\, what is happening locally\, and how to get inv olved.
\n \nThe ses sion presents you with a usable framework for unde rstanding the climate emergency\, how soon we need to act\, the scale of that action\, and what part individuals and organisations in Cumbria can play in the bigger picture.
\n \nYou will leave this session more confiden t in your knowledge\, better able to articulate wh at needs to be done\, and with an increased sense of agency around your ability to be part of that c hange.
\n \nYou wil l also leave with the ability to begin to develop your own action plans\, and to develop training se ssions for others\, if you wish to do so.
\n \ nThe session is deliver ed by expert trainers from Cumbria Action for Sust ainability (CAfS). CAfS Co-Chair the Zero Carbon C umbria Partnership and run Cumbria’s carbon and cl imate literacy training programme. Their certified carbon literate trainers bring decades of practic al emission-reduction expertise\, in-depth knowled ge of the local area as well as significant traini ng experience.

\n \nBetween part 1 and part 2\, delega tes will be required to spend a short amount of ti me on coursework (1 hour max) to calculate the imp act they have on the climate between sessions usin g an online tool:

\n \nTo become certified as Carbo n Literate\, you must complete a pledge document\, pl edging significant emission reduction actions as a n individual and as part of a wider group\, and re turn this to us within 10 days of the training. Th e questions on this document are created and asses sed by the Carbon Literacy Project\, the national body who created the Carbon Literate accreditation . We will submit your completed pledge form to the Carbon Literacy Project for their assessment.
