Two new EV chargepoints go live in Cumbria

This month marked the completion of two more installations of electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints which are now live and fully operational. Just in time for Cumbria to drop down into Tier 2 as well. Don’t ever say we don’t time things well. The first is our collaboration with Dalston Parish council for a chargepoint and lighting installation in the Kingsway car park near the village centre. The site consists of two charging sockets along with a lamppost to make sure that night-time travellers can find it quickly and easily. Not bad for partnership in which no money changed hands. [...]

Education leads the charge in South Cumbria

A sunny Monday morning saw the latest electric vehicle (EV) chargepoint installation from Charge My Street resplendent in a delicately adorned red ribbon. This wasn't to last long though as the ribbon was promptly cut by staff from Kendal College to announce the chargepoints official opening for public use. On site were two Nissan Leafs and a Renault Zoe whose owners were eager to get in on the first kilowatts of juice from the sockets. Deputy mayor opens Walney’s first electric vehicle chargepoint

The newest electric vehicle (EV) chargepoint in our project with Charge My Street has been installed in Barrow and charged its maiden car, this week. West Point House is now the first place on Walney Island and one of the first in Barrow to be equipped with EV chargepoints. A double socket has been installed with the hope of increasing charging opportunities for locals and the 40 residents of West Point House. Funding target reached and EV webinar!

Despite pressures from the national response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the community share offer from Charge My Street has succeeded in raising £130,000 to install 100 electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints across Cumbria and Lancashire. Charge My Street and CAfS would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who put forward their own investment and to those who helped get the word out about the share offer. Focus group informs EV project

In last months newsletter and on our website, we put out an appeal for electric vehicle owners and non-EV owners alike to lend us their experiences and perceptions and the response we received was heartily enthusiastic! Dozens of respondents told us how they would happily give us some insight into their views on EVs, so we asked them to do exactly that over a pizza and a pint at Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre. About a month ago, we mentioned that we would soon be supporting the launch of a unique community share offer that aims to change sustainable transport in the North West. Do you drive an electric vehicle (EV) or do you want to? We’re looking for drivers to take part in a focus group about life as the owner of an EV. A community share offer will be opening soon for Charge My Street, an enterprise that funds the installation of community-owned electric vehicle (EV) charge points. In the coming year, Charge My Street will be installing 200 charge points throughout the north of England, working with a range of partners, including CAfS. It's all part of a programme funded by Innovate UK. The aim is for the charge points to be funded through a public share offer run by Charge My Street. Could your premises host an electric vehicle charge point?

CAfS would love to hear from venues that could potentially host a charge point for electric vehicles (EVs). We want to find two hundred sites in Cumbria and other parts of northern England over the next 18 months, as part of the new project to build EV infrastructure that we announced in July. New project will boost chargepoints across Cumbria & the North

Infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) across northern England is set to power up over the next eighteen months thanks to new government investment announced this month. Cumbria Action for Sustainability is part of a partnership, led by Cybermoor and Charge my Street, which will join forces to deliver the Scaling On-Street Charging Infrastructure (SOSCI) project. It’s one of twelve projects that will share £37 million funding to revolutionise the experience of owning an electric vehicle in the UK.
